Gilbert AUDIN

bassoon

Gilbert AUDIN, principal bassoon of the Paris Opera and professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, is considered throughout the world as the ambassador of the French bassoon and of its prestigious school. He studied in Nîmes before joining the CNSM in Paris in the renowned class of Maurice ALLARD. At the age of 19, he won the International Competitions in Geneva and then in Munich, but it was by unanimously winning the First Prizes in Geneva (1980) and then in Toulon (1982) that he achieved international recognition.

He plays as a soloist and gives master classes all over the world, and he is above all the privileged partner of the greatest artists such as Paul MEYER, Emmanuel PAHUD, François LELEUX and Éric LE SAGE with whom he founded the famous ensemble LES VENTS FRANÇAIS. His abundant discography includes the concertos of Mozart, Jean Françaix, Marcel Landowsky (Sony, RCA), the concertante symphonies of Mozart, Devienne, Bréval, the trios for 2 flutes and bassoon by Haydn and Devienne (with JP RAMPAL), the quartets by Rossini, bassoon ensembles with Les Bassons de l'Opéra, French music for reed trio and all the chamber music of Poulenc with LES VENTS FRANÇAIS (RCA).
